Why Otoplasty?
At Elysian Plastic Surgery otoplasty—commonly referred to as ear pinning—is a specialized procedure that corrects protruding, asymmetrical, or misshapen ears to achieve a more balanced, natural appearance. Otoplasty can have a profound impact on confidence and facial harmony, while preserving the unique character of the ears.
DR. Biggerstaff's PROCESS
The procedure involves making a discreet incision behind the ear, through which the cartilage is reshaped and repositioned closer to the head. In some cases, sutures alone may be used to hold the ears in a more refined position, while in others, minor cartilage excision and sculpting is required. The result is a natural-looking contour that complements the face without appearing overcorrected or artificial.
Otoplasty is typically performed under local anesthesia with or without sedation in our fully accredited ambulatory surgery center. Recovery is generally mild, with patients returning to normal activities within a few days and full results visible within a few weeks.
At Elysian Plastic Surgery, we approach otoplasty with subtlety and precision—ensuring the final outcome enhances your appearance without drawing attention to the ears themselves.
