Why Buccal Fat Removal?
At Elysian Plastic Surgery, buccal fat removal is a precision facial contouring procedure designed to subtly slim the lower cheeks and enhance the definition of the cheekbones and jawline. This procedure is ideal for individuals with naturally fuller, rounder faces—often referred to as “baby fat” or “chipmunk cheeks”—who desire a more refined and sculpted facial appearance.
The buccal fat pads are located deep within the mid-cheek area and contribute to facial volume, particularly in younger patients. In select individuals, excess fullness in this area can obscure bone structure and create a less contoured appearance. During the procedure, a small incision is made inside the mouth, allowing for careful removal of a portion of the buccal fat pad. There are no external scars, and the procedure is performed under local anesthesia or light sedation in our accredited on-site ambulatory surgery center.
DR. Biggerstaff's PROCESS
Buccal fat removal is often combined with other facial procedures—such as chin augmentation, liposuction of the neck, or facelift surgery—to enhance overall facial harmony. At Elysian Plastic Surgery, we evaluate each patient’s unique anatomy and facial structure to ensure buccal fat removal is appropriate and will produce balanced, natural-looking results. Our approach emphasizes restraint and artistry—sculpting, not hollowing—so your final look is elegant, defined, and unmistakably yours.
