Why Sliding Genioplasty?
At Elysian Plastic Surgery, sliding genioplasty is our preferred method of chin augmentation for patients seeking a powerful yet natural-looking improvement in chin projection, balance, and overall facial harmony. Unlike synthetic implants, sliding genioplasty uses your own bone to reshape and reposition the chin, offering a more customizable and anatomically integrated result.
Sliding genioplasty is particularly well-suited for patients with a recessed chin, vertical imbalance, or asymmetry that cannot be adequately corrected with an implant alone. Recovery is typically straightforward, with swelling resolving gradually over several weeks. The procedure is performed in our fully accredited ambulatory surgery center under general anesthesia, and it may be combined with other facial procedures such as rhinoplasty, neck liposuction, or facial fat grafting for comprehensive aesthetic improvement.
DR. Biggerstaff's PROCESS
The procedure involves a small incision inside the lower lip, through which the lower portion of the chin bone (mandibular symphysis) is carefully cut, repositioned, and secured using tiny titanium plates or screws. The chin can be advanced forward, adjusted vertically (lengthened or shortened), or corrected for asymmetry—all with remarkable precision and stability. Because no implant is used, there’s no risk of foreign body reaction, implant shifting, or long-term palpability.
At Elysian Plastic Surgery, we favor sliding genioplasty for its precision, versatility, and the beautifully natural results it achieves—helping patients feel more confident in their profile and overall facial balance.
